All of our groups are in the midst of rehearsing for their December end of term performances…. most of these final sharings at the end of each term are only typically open to friends and families because of space limitations and audience capacity, but we are delighted to announce that Doorstep Youth Theatre Rep Company will be having a public performance of their current production on Monday 1 December. You can see the info about that event here.
We’re so excited to see these performances at the end of this term! Our Saturday Drama group is working on a full panto production of Jack & the Beanstalk.

Our youngest group, Little Doorstep (ages 3-6) are working on their own imaginative sharing for the end of term. This is always a delight to watch and we can’t wait to see it!

Both of the DAS Juniors groups (x2) are working on excerpts from Annie. Their commitment and focus has been exceptional, and we’re really looking forward to seeing the show come to life in early December. These groups are also really looking forward to their chance to step up on the mainstage in 2026 with one of our bigger ambitious full scale productions.

Our DAS Wednesday Seniors group (ages 11-14) is doing a selection of scenes from The Addams Family. The Wed Seniors continue to surprise and amaze us at their ability to function as a full production company – they’re staging some really ambitious work and each term they continue to rise to new challenges.

The DAS Tuesday Seniors group (ages 14-20) is doing a truncated and gripping version of Sweeney Todd. This score is complex and challenging, and they are definitely rising to the ask – it’s amazing to listen to this score come to life. So many of this older crew are in the midst of exams and pressurised coursework daily at school, but when they step into the DAS rehearsal space, you can really feel how important it is to be able to leave those pressures at the door and focus in on the creative task at hand.

Doorstep Youth Theatre Training company did a scratch performance in October, which was their first ever sharing and we’re excited to see how their ongoing work will manifest – they’ll be scratching this alongside DYT Rep on Monday 1 Dec. The early-Monday-evening DYT Training group is new and growing and there’s a lot of exciting possibility here – there are about 8 regular attendees at the moment, and we’d love to welcome a few more young people age 11-16 to this group on Monday evenings at 5.15pm weekly. Do get in touch with Helen if you’re interested in finding out more (helen@doorsteparts.co.uk).

It’s also been a joy to have the very first members of the #MakeItHappen Crew in the space for a small pilot experiment across 6 weeks of this Autumn Term, bringing early stage support with lighting, sound, costume, props, scenic design and production.

You can see the impact of their presence clearly in the stage lighting present in the images above. We’re in the midst of shaping up an exciting and ambitious forward-facing training scheme vis this new programme – we are currently in the midst of seeking funding and partnerships to make that happen. Hopefully more to come on this with some (fingers crossed) exciting updates in 2026. Huge thanks to the current small crew who are bravely piloting a small experiment this term – hopefully with some lasting legacies!
