Saturday Drama

What is Saturday Drama?

Our Saturday sessions are hugely imaginative groups for children & young people to develop original theatre, make friends, play games and explore the reaches of their imagination with drama.

Doorstep is a grant-subsidised organisation, funded by Arts Council England, and this enables us to provide Saturday Drama at a low session rate for families. Taster sessions are possible, for £5 (if you choose to carry on, this will be deducted from the termly fee). Free parking on site.

Ages 3-6 (Little Doorstep) 9.15-10am

Ages 7-16 (Sat Drama) 10.30-12pm

Sessions are led by Associate Artist Natasha Brown

Natasha leads the Saturday Drama groups for Doorstep. She also works as the careers lead at Teignmouth Secondary School as well as teaching. Before COVID Natasha ran a very successful performing arts school for 10 years that was started as a community university project, where she taught all aspects of the arts, including creative writing, devising and script work. Natasha has a degree in performance practice and events management and is very excited to be putting it back into practice whilst running the Saturday groups.

Little Doorstep

Little Doorstep is our youngest entry-level group, perfect for children aged 3 – 6 who have never done drama before, or who would like to try out a session for the first time. These sessions are gentle and imaginative, led by the children’s curiosity and innate ability to play.

Saturday Drama

We recently combined our junior and senior groups to create a drama group for ages 7 – 16. This group is hugely imaginative, they love to write their own plays and make up their own stories, devise original material and compose original music. This group is recommended for children interested in writing, design, acting, devising/improvisation, technical theatre, or making. It’s a great foundation group for young people who aspire to audition for Doorstep Youth Theatre.
