DYT Rep Company works together as an audition-based ensemble to write, devise, create and bring to life aspirational and ambitious original productions.

DYT Rep applications are now closed for the year as they work toward their ambitious show ‘Hushabye’ for performances on 6 & 7 August. The next audition round will take place on Monday 14 September 2026. For mid-year entry, you are welcome to sign up for Doorstep Youth Theatre.

DYT Rep is a team of performers, musicians and theatre-makers, ages 14-20 who work together on exciting performance projects from their base at the Palace Theatre in Paignton. DYT Rep Company is an audition-entry group for those with hopes of pursuing a career in the arts, and who want to make exciting, ground-breaking work. The company accepts 18 performers each year, and entry is competitive.

What is a Rep Company? A Rep (repertory) Company is a group of performers and creatives who work collaboratively together for a period of time to produce multiple shows, or a ‘repertoire’ of shows.

DYT Rep has an in-house band – a group of musicians, singer-songwriters and musical collaborators who create live original music to score and back their performance work. This is entirely led by the musicians in the company. New musicians are welcome, but this is again an audition-based process.
