In Jan and Feb of each year, Doorstep Arts teams up with the University of Exeter to run a secondary schools outreach programme across South Devon: The Devising Discovery Series. This is a grant-funded outreach offer for schools, which means it is FREE.
This programme is an ongoing collaboration between the University of Exeter Widening Participation programme and Doorstep Arts’ Arts Council-funded Open Doors outreach.
Students in Years 8 and up (through Sixth Form) can receive two visiting workshops at their school from professional devising and physical theatre specialists (Lead Artists). These workshops are supported by Applied Theatre students from the university.
This programme is hugely popular with a waiting list of schools interested in taking part.
Students who have participated in the outreach workshops come together to showcase their work at the University of Exeter in February in a shared platform event. Read more about previous platforms in 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024 here.
We are delighted to confirm that this platform event will be taking place in February 2025.
The outreach programme is nearly fully booked for 2025. We are currently still accepting submissions for outstanding student performance pieces to be shared at the final Platform on Saturday 15 February at the Exeter Northcott Theatre. Please email erin@doorsteparts.co.uk if you are interested in taking part.
