Jade is a Brixham-local, a Dartington graduate, holds an MA in Applied Theatre and is currently completing her PhD at the University of Exeter. Jade also works for Theatre Royal Plymouth and tours her own work, including her most recent show Suffrajitsu. Jade is one of the 3 Doorstep Arts Co-Parents, looking after the core strands of our work & strategic direction. She leads the Platform strand.

Erin Walcon (She/Her)
Co-Director, Co-Founder & Co-Parent
Erin is a Paignton-based director, writer and educator with a PhD in Applied Theatre. She is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter Drama Department & chairs Torbay Arts in Schools Network, the Local Cultural Education Partnership. Erin is one of the 3 Doorstep Arts Co-Parents, looking after the core strands of our work & strategic direction. She leads the Open Doors strand.

Polly Ferguson-Carruthers (She/Her)
Co-Director, Co-Parent & Lead Artist
Polly serves as the Lead Artist for Doorstep Arts Studio Courses (DAS), former drama teacher, director, performer and delivers dance CPD in educational settings. She is a Dartington graduate studying Theatre with Choreography. Polly is one of the 3 Doorstep Arts Co-Parents, looking after the core strands of our work & strategic direction. She leads the Participation strand.

Mair George (She/Her)
Platform & Scratch Producer
Mair is a creative production and employability specialist working with Villages in Action, a community touring organisation in Devon and the University of Exeter. Mair project manages touring & homegrown productions within our Platform and Stories from Scratch strands of work, as well as providing Pathways support for emerging artists, technicians & producers.

Rebekah Daws (She/Her)
Creative Administrator
Rebekah, a Torbay local, began working for Doorstep as a KickStart Assistant and later became a freelance member of the team. She provides creative administrative support across all core activity, including website curation. Rebekah has stage-managed a number of young person-led productions, including The Inheritance, White Moon and Matilda. Rebekah is also a representative for the Imagine This… Youth Council. Rebekah is the best first port of call on any general enquiries to Doorstep.

Marie Copland (She/Her)
Accounts
Marie handles finance and accounts for Doorstep, processing payments and invoices and keeping things moving. For any parents or carers, she is the best person to contact with a question about payments.

Helen Gilbert (She/Her)
Associate Artist
Helen is a Lead Artist working with Doorstep Youth Theatre. She is a theatre maker and facilitator based in Totnes, who has worked with a variety of Devon-based organisations. She is also the Education and Engagement Manager for MED Theatre where she works within the rurally isolated communities of Dartmoor, co-creating original work with young people, and producing and directing large-scale community plays.

Natasha Brown (She/Her)
Associate Artist
Natasha leads the Saturday Drama groups for Doorstep. She also works as the careers lead at Teignmouth Secondary School as well as teaching. Before COVID Natasha ran a very successful performing arts school for 10 years that was started as a community university project, where she taught all aspects of the arts, including creative writing, devising and script work. Natasha has a degree in performance practice and events management and is very excited to be putting it back into practice whilst running the Saturday groups.

Foot in the Door Assistants
Doorstep runs a year-round mentorship programme through our Pathways strand of work. This Foot in the Door scheme provides support, resource, and training for emerging artists in Torbay.

Pip Walcon Adams
Assistant Artist
Pip (age 16) works as an Assistant Artist supporting Saturday Drama and Little Doorstep. She has been a Doorstep member for a long time and is currently a member of Doorstep Youth Theatre. She particularly enjoys working with EYFS ages, and regularly volunteers at a local nursery/preschool. Pip loves leading collaborative world-building games that engage young children into making stories.

Teagan South
Assistant Artist
Teagan has been a participant of Doorstep since 2016 (age 6) and she now helps with DAS musical theatre sessions. She has been in Doorstep productions such as Into the woods, Matilda and Shrek and hopefully many more to come. Teagan wants to continue to be on stage and do musical theatre when she’s older. And she is happy to be working with incredible people at Doorstep Arts!
