Doorstep Recommends: Bursary Opportunity with Dance in Devon!

Friday 31st January
£500 Bursary, PLUS free Studio Space, PLUS Training, PLUS Online Performance Platform, during Spring/Summer 2020!

Open Online Theatre, hosted by IJAD Dance Company, is a virtual rehearsal, performance and collaboration space where artists can live-stream their work from anywhere, and co-create via live interaction with audiences, as well as monetise their process.

Open Online Theatre (OOT) is a fantastic opportunity to artists and/or companies to take part in their latest residency project. Dance in Devon is pleased to be working with OOT to offer a Devon artist/company a bursary place.

The bursary place we are offering with Online Open Theatre on this 12 week programme (April to June 2020) will include the following:

5 day residency in London (week commencing 30th March) including training in the following modules:
* sensography – how to devise/choreograph for 4 live-streaming cameras and interact with audiences live
* how to film for live streamed work using up to 4 cameras
* how to edit the footage as it goes out live
* how to use social media to engage audiences and monetise work
* business advice to help artists create a sustainable career
OOT will offer support for travel and accommodation during this period.

The artists then have an 11 week period to develop their work for live streaming, incorporating their new skills; during this time mentoring is available from OOT experts. During this time, Dance in Devon will offer 5 free days of studio space plus an additional £500 fee to support the development of the artists’ work.

After five and a half weeks there will be 2 days of meetings with all mentors and involved artists/companies for feedback, questions, and to share their experiences.

The package also includes offering each artist/company their own online channel, plus 1 hour 20mins live streamed performance/rehearsal time during the development phase, from any physical location.

At the end of the project the artists/companies will be included in the live streamed 2 day CLICKLive festival where their work can be seen by programmers and curators globally, as well as a live audience. The festival weekend will be held on June 13th 2020.

Artists/companies should have some experience of creating work, they must be self motivated and enthusiastic, and have a genuine interest in the intersection of technology and performance. This opportunity provides the support for local artists to develop their digital practice. Ideally applicants will have an existing piece of choreography, even if still in the early stages of development, which they can develop for sharing at the CLICKLive festival. To apply for this bursary place, please complete the online form. If you have any questions please get in touch via administrator@danceindevon.org.uk. The deadline for applications is Friday 31st January 2020.

Please note: this bursary is separate from the Future Dances Bursary.
