As we head into a new term, we wanted to take a little moment to look back and say a very big thank you the wonderful people who have been part of the Doorstep team over the spring and summer.
Because the thing about making theatre is that, while the audience might see the finished show, there are so many brilliant people behind it who help make the magic happen.
Laura Swift joined Polly as Co-Director for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and we are so incredibly grateful for everything she brought to the project. A huge thank you too to Lucia, who joined the Hushabye team as Assistant Director and Grimesy & Jorja for supporting the groups in rehearsals and show week. Thank you for all the energy and thought you brought to the project and to the young people.
And, of course, we need to give a massive shout-out to our brilliant tech crew, volunteers and leaders throughout the show. So many of you we are grateful to!
Theatre simply wouldn’t happen without the people behind the scenes. The early starts, late nights, loading in, loading out, lights, sound, set, backstage problem solving and all the things that nobody in the audience sees but which make everything on stage possible.
We are so, so grateful to every single person who helped us bring our work to life this summer.
And while some of these lovely people may be moving on to other projects, new adventures and different things, we wanted to say something very important:
We hope we’ll see you popping up again whether that’s in a rehearsal room, backstage, in an audience, in a workshop or for a Doorstep lunch! Thank you for everything you’ve given to Doorstep, our young people and our work. We are incredibly lucky to work with such brilliant people.
Once a Doorstepper, always a Doorstepper.
And just to say….we still have managed to capture images of all the incredible humans who helped us last term…..but thats becuase they are always to busy making the great work happened! But enjoy some of these.
