Princess Theatre 65th Anniversary

On 6th June, we were chuffed to be part of the Princess Theatre’s 65th Anniversary.

Beautifully organised by Stacey Hedge and Katie-Louise Smaridge, they pulled together a lovely public event for the Torbay community and visiting tourists to enjoy. We were thrilled to be involved in early conversations with Stacey and Katie, where we developed a series of ideas for Doorstep to deliver on the day.

These included an early years workshop for ages 0–4, giving parents and children the opportunity to explore play through games and movement; a musical theatre workshop for juniors aged 7–11, inspired by shows that have graced the Princess Theatre stage; and finally, a fantastic opportunity for our DAS Seniors to perform their Chitty songs on the main stage, opening up the theatre to the public and giving them a real insight into performing on a larger stage than they are used to.

Even though the weather wasn’t on our side, it didn’t stop families coming along to enjoy the workshops and the performance.

It was really lovely to see familiar faces throughout the day, existing Doorstep families who continue to support our work, alongside so many new faces who hadn’t experienced a Doorstep workshop before. These workshops were led by Pip, Laura and Polly, who brought so much joy and “welly” to the day.

We’re incredibly proud of everyone involved and very grateful to have been part of such a special milestone for the theatre. We look forward to continuing our relationship with the Princess Theatre and seeing what exciting opportunities 2027 may bring.
