Theatre Buddies – Frozen Trip

Theatre Buddies Trip to Frozen at Cuthbert Mayne Secondary School

During half term, our Theatre Buddies group had the absolute pleasure of attending a truly special performance of Frozen The Musical at Cuthbert Mayne Secondary School, and what an unforgettable show it was!

This wasn’t just any school production. Cuthbert Mayne was one of the very first schools in the region to be granted the rights by MTI to perform the full version of Frozen. Most schools typically opt for the junior version of the script due to the scale and complexity of the full show, so this was an ambitious undertaking.

What made the experience even more exciting for us was seeing young people from Doorstep performing in the show. In the lead-up, we also had the chance to contribute in a small way by leading a couple of NCS (National Citizenship) sessions that touched on stage management and teamwork, thanks to Helen Gilbert & Natasha Brown. It was fantastic to see those preparations come to life.

From the very first note to the final bow, the performance was nothing short of brilliant. The energy on stage was electric, the costumes were dazzling, and the music, brought to life by a live 15-piece orchestra was simply fabulous. Every show was completely sold out and it’s easy to see why.

A huge well done to Jon Waterworth and Melanie Byng, who are clearly making the arts department flourish. They’re creating such a positive, welcoming space for young people to thrive and express themselves through the arts!!!

This was our first time attending a school production as a group—but it definitely won’t be our last. We loved every second of it.

To everyone involved in Frozen at Cuthbert Mayne: congratulations on an extraordinary achievement. You should all be incredibly proud. We look forward to seeing your next production of Into the Woods!
