The recent Powered by Youth event which took place at Parkfield on 26 September was a culmination of several months of lead-up engagement work. Some of this took place via open-access youth outreach, led by key Imagine This partners. Alongside this, we ran a more targeted programme of engagement, which involved a crew of 17 young people aged 14-26 who took on more responsibility and dedicated themselves to organising the final celebration event.
This crew of young people met four times between June and September to plan the event and to sort out the logistics for the Children & Young People’s Awards which also ran in parallel.
On Friday 25 Sept, the Make it Happen Crew gathered at Parkfield Sports Hall to do the get-in for the event. This timelapse captures the first 30 minutes of this set-up session – by the end, the space looked amazing!
And on Saturday 26 Sept, whilst the Make It Happen team continued to set up the tech & production elements in the Sports Hall, a further crew of Imagine This partner organisations assembled to help take over the green lawn outside of People’s Parkfield, setting up play and activity stations for children and families under 11. The site was buzzing!
It’s at these moments that we can really feel the spirit of partnership and the value of doing events together as a community.
