Just before Christmas, Doorstep Youth Theatre were visited by Harry Gould from the National Youth Theatre (NYT) for a guest workshop.
NYT is a pioneering youth arts charity that nurtures creative expression, personal well-being and skills development, engaging thousands of young people aged 11- 30 around the UK every year. Established in 1956 as the world’s first youth theatre, NYT seeks out, supports and champions performers, theatre technicians and young creative leaders. Doorstep Arts is an associate company of NYT.
As well as gaining a host of new skills from Harry, Doorstep Youth Theatre were also informed about how to audition for NYT, and tips for putting together an audition piece that best speaks for who they are. As part of this brilliant scheme, our members will receive a free audition place in early 2024.
Each year in DYT, we run a support programme for those in our group who want to audition for NYT, but would like some assistance in registering for a place and preparing an audition piece.
