My name is Manon, I am a French student and have been following Doorstep through for work experience to learn more about how theater impacts British youth. Thanks to Doorstep, the research I have done can now be applied to some real life observations. I was so thankful to be welcomed by the team and to follow them in their daily activities.
On Saturday, the team assisted Little Bulb Theatre in their Four Seasons show. This splendid show helped me realize that as of early years, going to these types of shows has a massive impact on children’s self development.
Thanks to laughter and audience interactivity, the energetic trio guided the audience through their vision of the 4 seasons. The show is a great opportunity for young children to develop musical culture but more importantly for them to learn about getting involved!
The team made the show humorous for the children as well as for the adults and showed themselves open to discussion. Overall, an enchanting experience filled with laughter, music, along with heartwarming moments. The talented cast brought the story to life in such a captivating way, and the colorful set added to the magic of it all.
I also got to assist the team in multiple different youth groups like DYT, DAS but also Talking Turns art with 3 year olds. These experiences are what make my research come to life, and being able to exchange with the team as well as the kids has been an enriching opportunity.
Working in the Doorstep office has taught me more about logistics, but more importantly team work.
