Doorstep Youth Co-Chair Election

We are very excited to announce that we have elected 2 new Co-Chairs for our Youth Advisory Board. Here is an update from each of them:

Ivy and Holly have been Co-Chairs for a year and they are keen to stay in place for another year.

At our latest Youth Advisory Board meeting, between the Co-Chairs and the Doorstep Arts Co-Directors, we were joined by our two newest members Will and Barney. It was a productive meeting and our main topics were talking about expectations and experiences of the Youth Advisory Board and about the upcoming term. We picked a theme for the wider Doorstep Arts programme which is ‘Baggage’. We looked at how the different groups could incorporate this complex theme and made sure it was a good fit. We also talked about what we were going to do this year as Co-Chairs. My last year as a member of The Youth advisory board I have been mainly assisting with the Doorstep social media accounts at the shows, including setting up a Doorstep TikTok! This year I want to get further involved in the social media side with our day to day activities, and looking out our fundraising events. Overall I am looking forward to having another year with the team and to the opportunities to come. – Ivy

Going forward into the New Year, there are various plans that are going to be put into place for further involvement of the youth co chairs in the running of doorstep. We are going to be taking on a bigger role than last year, with the option to participate as much or as little as we feel comfortable doing. As part of this, we aim to have a say in fundraising ideas, write more posts for the doorstep blog and support the planning in different events that Doorstep holds. We also want to unite the groups more, by talking to members of different doorstep groups about any issues or ideas they might want to bring forward to the adult advisors.– Holly

Will & Barney are our new recruits:

As a new Co-Chair of the Youth Advisory Board I can already see from my first meeting that’s it’s going to be a really fun and rewarding process to be able to be involved in the insightful decisions that go on behind the scenes. – Will

Joining the co-chair board has been an enriching experience already, and I’m very excited to have my voice heard and have an insightful view of the wider company. I have always loved drama as an activity and an industry, and now I feel even closer to it than I ever have been before. I hope in the future to be able to further other peoples love for drama, as other people have done for me in the past!
