Our Wednesday Juniors took on a big challenge this term, performing on the main stage, something they don’t usually do and they absolutely rose to the occasion! They didn’t let the size of the space or the pressure of the setting hold them back for a second.
Their performance explored a really fun and thoughtful concept: what if talents were hidden in bags, and we could ‘shop’ for the confidence we sometimes wish we had? Despite pulling the piece together in just a few short weeks (due to guest artists visiting), the group delivered a brilliant, creative show full of personality.
Having Morgan Westcott join us as a guest artist this term made a huge difference. His support gave the group a real boost, especially when it came to building confidence and it showed. We’ve seen so much growth in these young people. For some, simply standing on stage is a huge step. For others, speaking a line, choosing to stand at the front, or stepping out of the shadows takes real courage.
This term, every single one of them performed. Many chose to speak, many chose to be seen and that’s what it’s all about. They should be so proud of how they stepped up and owned that space. You’d never guess it was a first for so many of them!
