Sonic Landscapes of Colour – Listening Session + Q&A
You’re invited to a listening session & reflecting session with Q+A for:
Sonic Landscapes of Colour is an podcast style audio documentary that tells the story of young (18-26) People of Colour who have grown up in The South West (Somerset, Devon & Cornwall).
Built out of 9 interview recording sessions, this piece delves into how participants’ lived experiences have shaped their relationships to topics such as Identity, School, Community, Culture, Alienation, Belonging, Racism, Connection to local Natural Landscape.
The voices are underscored by a soundscape built from 4 recording sessions with non-western traditional instrumentalists who all have roots in the South West. These are then augmented by Somatic’s own composition and Sound Design skills.
It is the belief of this project that art can be a brilliant vehicle for social and political change.
Extracts from this project are also being offered as an anti-racism resource in Education. Please contact Devon Development Education or Somatic for more info.
The Q&A will be with the creator, two participants from the project and potentially project mentors (pending on availability).
Contains stories of racial trauma, brown joy and swearing
