Playing in the Streets

We’ve just spent 3 days supporting the fabulous team Tonic Creatives with their event, Playing in the Streets. It’s felt like just what the community needed, and especially this week with the global news so unsettling. Spending three days helping to create free, wholesome, open-access, street-based creative and fun activities for children felt like a good use of our energy. We’ve had some amazing conversations, shared some beautiful stories and made some good friends.

We loved getting a chance to play with Skylarker’s Story Ingredients for storymaking.

These have been developed by the amazing Pip Jones and they worked so beautifully for creating stories with groups of children. Please do check out her website and her work – it’s incredible!

We also loved sharing some beautiful books – including Giraffes Can’t Dance by Giles Andrae, The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright, and Laxmi’s Mooch by Shelly Anand. This last book celebrates body positivity so beautifully and we loved celebrating this further with lots of facepainted sparkly moustaches!

Our ‘drag-up your dungarees’ bookmarks were a real hit too – with lots of amazing designs completed across the 3 days!

And we had a fantastic time painting local stones with acrylic paint pens and leaving them to bring joy to people’s day.
