Weekly Groups

Doorstep Arts runs 12 participatory drama groups for children aged 4-20 in Torbay. Some of these are 'Drop-in' groups, which have a casual curriculum, others are 'Studio Courses' which require a termly commitment of 10 weeks. See below for details.

These groups all create original theatre, usually by devising together. All the groups include music, dance, and making elements.

Current Job Opening for Theatre Production Lead Roles (paid, Foot in the Door programme)

Closing date: 21 July

Doorstep Arts is looking for three young emerging candidates (aged 16-25) who are interested in learning theatre production (lighting, sound, costume, make-up, scenic design and stage management) by working on a Doorstep Arts production.

These roles will be paid a £200 stipend through Doorstep’s Foot in the Door mentorship programme.

These positions require individuals to use their own artistic vision, initiative and to work alongside a professional mentor technician or artist to create a strong original concept (with costume design, scenic design and stage lighting) for the upcoming Doorstep musical production The Woods. (This production teams Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods with a wholly original musical.)

You should demonstrate an enthusiasm for learning theatre production, with a particular interest in one of the technical areas, but prior experience is NOT required. You may be asked to support and mentor younger students who work as a part of your team.

Application Process: To apply, email doorsteparts@gmail.com with a covering letter. Interested applicants should write a cover letter – no more than a single page of A4 detailing why they would like to take on a Production Lead role, and describing their interest, experience and goals. This letter must include: full name, address, email address, phone number and availability for the below dates. (Note: if you have a schedule conflict for the dates listed, just indicate this in your covering letter, as dates can be somewhat flexible.)

For more information, please see the Doorstep Arts website: www.doorsteparts.co.uk.

Alternatively, please email doorsteparts@gmail.com or ring Doorstep Producer Mair George on 07834697387.
